I remember the few people who lived up our street when we moved into our new home on Dymond and Crestfield Roads. The one family that really stands out are the Shiehs, who lived up the street from us on Crestfield.
Our parents made good friends with Dr. and Mrs. Shieh almost as soon as we moved it. I didn’t really hang out with the two girls (they were GIRLS!) nor with Eric, who was much younger than I was. My main memories are of how much fun my parents had whenever we got together with both Dr and Mrs Shieh. I remember the animated talking, visiting and mainly the laughter whenever they got together.
I remember Dr Shieh as being one of the most congenial and relaxed persons that came around my parents house, and whenever we went to their house. Mrs Shieh always had some of the most tasty foods and dishes whenever we would get together for our many small party’s. I always have the vision of Dr Shieh having a slight smile on his face, looking totally relaxed and content, especially whenever we were just sitting around watching both my sisters and his daughters playing together.
I remember when my younger sister, Lisa, and the two girls, Eileen and Julie, were having a makeover and putting on tons of makeup and just giggling over the results. Dr. Shieh found that so funny and I thought that the girls were so silly, looking like clowns-in-training. (be nice to me or I’ll post those pictures!)
I am so happy to have known both Dr and Mrs Shieh, and the family, and I wish everyone the best in the future. This world will lose a happy soul and a great person.
